March 6 - 7: Great American Trail Horse Sale

The Great American Trail Horse Sale is a unique annual horse auction and trail competition for all breeds of horses.

Friday: 1:00 - 4:00 pm seminar offered by clinician Tommy Garland on training the trail horse. . 6:30pm is the Grand Entry followed by the "Gaited Horse Show Off"
7pm The Trail Horse Competition - featuring horses consigned to the sale competing over natural obstacles and challenges found on the trail. $5.00 fee for Friday only. (children 12 and under free) Saturday: 9am Finals of the Trail Competition; 11am - Horse Sale.

March 10: Old Time Music Jam - LIVE from the Work Horse Cafe
Mountain music jam session honoring our mountain heritage. Musicians welcome to play and audience encouraged to dance and sing along. Concessions available. Sessions held the 2nd Tuesday of each month starting at 6:00 PM.

Two-day riding clinic.

March 14:  Mounted Map and Orienteering Clinic
Spend the afternoon riding your horse on the VHC trails and learning how to navigate with a map and compass. Instructor: Olin Bare, Lexington, VA. Compass and watch required.

March 14 & 15: Virginia Classic Llama & Alpaca Show
Fifteen-annual show featuring halter, performance, fleece and futurity classes for llamas and alpacas. The largest Llama and Alpaca show in the country.

March 27 – 29: Spring Arabian Classic Horse Show
Arabian Horse Association rated, USDF rated, and USEF "A" rated Arabian, Half-Arabian and Dressage horse show. Featured are Sport Horse, Dressage, all seats of Equitation (hunt seat, reining seat, and saddle seat), Sidesaddle, Halter, Liberty, English and Country Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, Native Costume, and Trail competition. Highlights for Saturday evening starting at 6:30PM are Mounted Native Costume, Liberty and Dog Races. Admission is FREE!
