Virginia Horse Center Foundation
Salary position available for a Catering & Event Coordinator to oversee catering, banquet and other hospitality services at the Virginia Horse Center, a world-class equestrian facility. The VHC hosts over 100 events per year, including a wide variety of equestrian disciplines and other non-equestrian events. Catering & Event Coordinator will work closely with other VHC staff, equestrian show managers and others to provide outstanding food and beverage options to guests. Caterer will coordinate menu planning, logistics, food ordering, food preparation, customer service, accounting, set-up, clean-up and customer satisfaction surveys. Individual will be responsible for maintaining efficient, well-organized processes for inventory management, scheduling and supervision of part-time food and beverage team members, cost controls, billing and payment, budgeting, and regular reporting to the VHC’s Executive Director.
Individual must possess culinary expertise and skills which includes understanding cooking and dining at the professional level, designing menus, describing and critiquing food knowledgeably and working with others to prepare food. Individual must possess strong people skills, excellent communication skills both oral and written, problem-solving skills, and have a strong work ethic. Must be able to write reports and be proficient in word, excel, Facebook, QuickBooks or have the ability to learn these skills.

The VHCF has many volunteer opportunities which provide proximity to our great events, worthwhile experience, and a fun atmosphere. Our volunteer opportunities are categorized in four areas but we are always looking for great partners of all talents.
Communications – Ensures all constituents and the community receive information in a timely manner. Tasks may include newsletter assembly, putting up flyers, story research and writing.
Good Will Ambassador – Provides walking customer service to visitors/exhibitors during events, improving overall experiences and satisfaction with the facility and staff. Tasks may include stocking brochures, coupon packs, checking TV screen advertisements and taking on-site feedback from visitors.
Administrative Greeter – Welcomes visitors to the VHCF offices (via walk-in, telephone, or computer) and helps them with requests. Tasks may include routing calls, customer service and routine office tasks.
Show Host - Assists with event management during VHCF owned shows. Tasks may include handing out ribbons, polishing trophies, acting as a runner for show managers, providing customer service for participants and their families.
