Welcome to the Virginia Horse Center Foundation in beautiful Lexington, Virginia! Whether you are visiting our site as a participant, parent, community member, business person, or tourist, we want to ensure you get all the information you need to plan your trip, see what’s happening, become a partner, or simply to better understand our organization.
When I speak to people about the Virginia Horse Center, I often hear the phrase “the experience.” It’s an effective way to summarize many different vantage points. Our participants value the safety and quality of our stalls and rings as well as the convenient layout of the facility; our visitors often remark about the friendly atmosphere and the wide array of activities (most free) held here; and community members and the equine industry share their gratitude that the Center has endured over the years to be a huge economic asset. I think that beneath all of these sentiments is an undercurrent of relationships. Relationships that fortify every performance, serve as a net for any set-back, make a trip memorable, connect you with your community, and, above all, celebrate the special relationship shared between people and their animals. The VHCF is proud to be the stage for so many meaningful experiences.
As with most 501c3 organizations, our identity evolves with our community’s need. At present our mission is to provide programming specific to recreation, education, and preservation. Recreation – by providing a professional and safe facility for all breeds and disciplines. Education – by offering programs to all ages ranging from agriculture to horse-care to specialty training clinics as well as exposing visitors to new and exciting events. Preservation – by stewarding our 600 acres to the best of our ability through sustainable practices.
We have grown tremendously in the last twenty-five years, and, with your support, we hope to continue to thrive for generations to come. I hope you enjoy your time on-line and on-site.
